Take Your Kids to the Movies
Are you looking for family friendly events for your exceptional needs child this week? Don't worry, we have you covered! From sensory friendly movies to outdoor movie events, there is something for everyone this week!
Did you know AMC theaters across the nation offer Sensory Friendly viewings of certain movies? Because AMC theaters has partnered with the Autism Society, they now have sensory friendly films where they turn the lights up, lower the sound, and encourage individuals to move about as they needed. They offer family friendly movies on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.
This Saturday, September 14, 2019, you can view The Angry Birds Movie 2 at the AMC Altamonte Mall 18 at 11am, and AMC Lake Square 12 at 10:30am. Both choices have reserved seating ahead of time. A complete list of other participating theaters and movie times can be found on their website at here.
Another great way to be able to enjoy the events offered in the area is to attend outdoor events, even if they aren’t sensory friendly. You can then adjust the environment to your child's needs by sitting closer or further away from the sound or lights, bringing your own snacks, bringing items of comfort, and being able to quickly exit if needed.
This Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 8pm, Cranes Roost Park will be showing Tim Burton’s Dumbo. Admission is free and food and beverage will be available for purchase. They offer other family friendly outdoor events throughout the year. Click here for additional information.
Stay tuned for next week’s area events! Do you know of an upcoming event or want to include your event on our calendar?
