Mental Health & You

"Mental Health isn't a battle to be won. It is a journey to continue walking."
Lindsey Adkinson

Annual physicals and wellness visits with your primary care physician or your child’s pediatrician are routine. But have you ever considered an annual mental health check?

Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It influences how we think, feel, and act. It determines how an individual copes with stress, develops relationships, and makes decisions. Mental health is paramount at every developmental stage of life, from infancy, childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

A metal health assessment can be completed by a social worker, mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, physician, psychiatrist or psychologist. The assessment is conducted in an office, home or via telehealth. It will generally consist of an interview and completion of a questionnaire focused on your personal/ family/ medical history, current and previous symptoms, and your current cognitive functioning.

Assessing your mental health on a consistent basis is a habit to develop. Your mind, body and spirit are connected. Maintaining a healthy balance between the three areas will enhance your daily functioning and your relationships.
